- What causes the digital divide (those who have technology and those who do not)?
The older generation is not used to the technology that's out here in the world today because they didn't have it availabe to them when they were growing up. In addition, the lack of knowledge of technology the older generation don't really try to learn it. They see it as to confusing to learn the technology and to keep up with the evolving technology.
I just came accross this post when looking up stuff on the digital divide. Your point is very true. I'm only 25, and already feel out-of-the-loop on some things. Things like e-mail, for example, are slowing dying out among younger generations.
ReplyDeleteI work for a company that represents Certiport, which offers Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) to help people stay in touch with the latest basics. I highly recommend it. Their blog, certiport.blogspot.com, has good information about it, as does certiport.com.
Sorry, in my previous post I meant to write certiport.typepad.com. See what I mean about being out-of-the-loop?
